Welcome Back, Welcome Back

by Spottie Ottie on Nov.30, 2009, under Uncategorized

Hope ya’ll had a great Thanksgiving with a lot to be thankful for. We fried a turkey for the first time, and let me tell you, that shit is unreal.

Anybody do anything epic while you were away from the office/classroom?  We hope you got a chance to check out this, we heard it was a great time.

We learned a few things over time spent with family.

1. My girlfriend now encourages me to act like Jay-Z. I mean, I’m strong, but I don’t know if I’m this strong. Way to respect the lady, Jay.

2. Sometimes we feel as if we live in a cubicle or something, since when did Bill Cosby produce a rap album? And why the hell is he not rapping on it, you know that man can spit it. Unfortunately, from what we hear it isn’t that great and Russell Simmons had some choice words for it.

I spent the entire 6 hour drive to my folks listening to Priceless the Kid’s No Barcode on repeat and Phil Ade’s Starting on JV (also played through Wale’s Attention Deficit). These are 2 dudes you need to check out.

Will someone send us some pics from the Gallery Group Kick Off with Big Boi?

Stay strong. Christmas break is around the corner.

50 Takes Off Arm Tats

by Spottie Ottie on Nov.19, 2009, under Uncategorized

From Showbizspy

The In Da Club hitmaker — real name Curtis Jackson — says he ditched his body art to avoid spending hours in the make-up chair on film sets.

“I took ‘em off,” he said. “I’ve been on a few acting projects and they been making me get up… My call time is four hours before the regular acting talent because of the tattoos.

“I’ve got a project I’m supposed to be doing with Nicolas Cage, called The Dance, it’s a boxing film… it’s like my passion project and… when you’re a fighter you’re sweating and with a whole bunch of make-up on and stuff like that, it doesn’t look real to me.

“I kept my back piece. I can’t take that off.”

Sorry Mom, we are not getting rid of ours.

XXL’s List of Top 100 Hip-Hop Websites (Where is Poloflow?)

by Spottie Ottie on Nov.17, 2009, under Uncategorized

First off, you know this list is flawed, or should we say incomplete, if it doesn’t contain The PoloFlow on it.

Second, Although this list does contain some of our favorite places to marinate for a few minutes during a long work day  (Nah Right, 2DopeBoyz, Mixtapekings.com) a few of these have zero focus on hip-hop.

But to quote Nah Right : “You can’t call this a “Hip-Hop” list and then have Sandra Rose and Bossip, let’s be serious. (To be fair, the VIBE list had similar problems). Splash has forgotten more about Hip-Hop than some of these people ever knew. But I suppose if you’re not gonna rank the list, then you have to piss people off some other way. Because that’s why lists exist. To piss people off.”

Well it worked we are pissed off!

Not really, we’ll see you on the next list.

Rumors of Tupac Sex Tape

by Spottie Ottie on Nov.17, 2009, under Uncategorized

From Hip-Hop Wired

“Back in the day, it was live ass XXX Treach and Tupac forreal.”
So maybe it wasn’t enough to continue to keep the legacy of rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur alive with post-death albums. Now there are rumors circulating that the late rapper has a sex tape floating around the Internet.
During his growing success as a rapper, Shakur was quite the ladies man and even professed his overbearing love for the opposite sex.
Although his sexual endeavors may not have been chronicled extensively by the mainstream, a song by the name of “I Get Around” was an indicator that Shakur enjoyed what happened whether the lights were on or off.
Naughty By Nature’s own Treach was able to give an account of a particular example of the good old days with him and Tupac.
“I remember this one time we was in a hotel right, we was staying in the same room. He had this little honey in the room and I had the camcorder and I went up to the room. I was taping him tearing her ass up. Then the door creaked and the n*gga got up like, ‘N**ga, what the f*ck you doing, you got it? Treach you got it on tape? Don’t you ever be doing no sh*t like that’. We watched the tape the next day.”

WTF? Of The Day: Jay-Z Signs The Ting Tings to Roc Nation?

by Spottie Ottie on Nov.12, 2009, under Uncategorized

Have you heard of the Ting Tings? Unless you have a little sister under the age of 16, probably not.  The singer, who is sort of hot and British, sings much like the Korean lady at our dry cleaners does while hemming our pants, if said Korean lady downed 36 Red Bulls at the high point of a 3 day meth binge.

They’re magnum opus, “That’s not my Name” will probably end up going down as this generations “Hey Mickey You’re So Fine”.

They’re not horrible, it is just hard to see their appeal to Jay-Z. When Hova rapped over  Amy Winehouse, that was hot, we’d like to see something like that again. But the Ting Tings? We must be missing something.

From Paste Magazine:

According to someone close to the Ting Tings, Jay-Z is hoping to work with the band as well. “Jay is hoping to lend his production skills to some of the new material,” the source told U.K. newspaper Daily Star. “The staccato rhythmic style of the Ting Tings sits well with what he does best, so that was the attraction. Jay can make them one of the biggest British bands in America.”

We’ll reserve judgement till we see what Jay does with this. In the meantime, we bring you the TING TINGS!
