If You Haven’t Downloaded Phil Ade’s Starting on JV WTF Are You Waiting For?
by Spottie Ottie on Nov.20, 2009, under New Flows, The Good Stuff, Yacthiness
I know we are a little late in the game for just now discovering Phil Ade, but it was well worth the wait. Phil’s first album, Starting On JV was released in July and received a good amount of praise from around the DMV.
Yesterday, we were advised to download his mixtape (which is free) from a friend and have playing it through on repeat for the last 24 hours.
From what we’ve heard, we are of the opinion that this kid can definitely spit it and is probably only going to get better. He is signed to Raheem Devaughn’s 368 Music Group and as been making his rounds through the D.C. area performing with Wale, Clipse, XO, among others. We hear he has a pretty sick stage presence too, so go check him out.
Catch him tonight at the DMV Homecoming at Love Nightclub.
You can also check out a recent interview that Phil did with UrbanFeedMag.com here. He seems like a pretty real dude.
Sometimes the best music is the free music. Go download.

The In Da Club hitmaker — real name Curtis Jackson — says he ditched his body art to avoid spending hours in the make-up chair on film sets.
“I took ‘em off,” he said. “I’ve been on a few acting projects and they been making me get up… My call time is four hours before the regular acting talent because of the tattoos.
“I’ve got a project I’m supposed to be doing with Nicolas Cage, called The Dance, it’s a boxing film… it’s like my passion project and… when you’re a fighter you’re sweating and with a whole bunch of make-up on and stuff like that, it doesn’t look real to me.
“I kept my back piece. I can’t take that off.”
Sorry Mom, we are not getting rid of ours.

Rumors of Tupac Sex Tape
by Spottie Ottie on Nov.17, 2009, under Uncategorized
From Hip-Hop Wired
“Back in the day, it was live ass XXX Treach and Tupac forreal.”
So maybe it wasn’t enough to continue to keep the legacy of rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur alive with post-death albums. Now there are rumors circulating that the late rapper has a sex tape floating around the Internet.
During his growing success as a rapper, Shakur was quite the ladies man and even professed his overbearing love for the opposite sex.
Although his sexual endeavors may not have been chronicled extensively by the mainstream, a song by the name of “I Get Around” was an indicator that Shakur enjoyed what happened whether the lights were on or off.
Naughty By Nature’s own Treach was able to give an account of a particular example of the good old days with him and Tupac.
“I remember this one time we was in a hotel right, we was staying in the same room. He had this little honey in the room and I had the camcorder and I went up to the room. I was taping him tearing her ass up. Then the door creaked and the n*gga got up like, ‘N**ga, what the f*ck you doing, you got it? Treach you got it on tape? Don’t you ever be doing no sh*t like that’. We watched the tape the next day.”
PoloFlow Scholarship: Listen Vision “Rapathon”
by Spottie Ottie on Nov.17, 2009, under Yacthiness

For those of you in the D.C. area, local recording studio Listen Vision is holding a rapathon on November 21 at their studio.
Deets from Listen Vision:
Who has the best 16?
The Rapathon will be held on November 21st from 12–6 pm at Listen Vision. 100 artists will perform a 16 bar verse each to be chopped, scratched, screwed and produced for Volume One of the new Listen Vision Rapathon Mixtape Series. Slots are first come, first serve, and require a registration fee of $20.
We’re going to pony up the $20 dollars (Yeah, we know it ain’t much) for one lucky D.C. MC. Send us an MP3, Youtube Video, or we’ll even take written prose. The folks at PoloFlow will then put submissions through an intense, single- round elimination (we’ll probably just let a girlfriend decide) and choose who is going to receive the coveted 2009 Poloflow Rapathon Scholarship.
Oh, and we’re not saying that if you can find a way to incorporate PoloFlow into whatever it is you do you’ll win, but you probably will.
To sweeten the deal, we’ll take off the Wale Prescription video and let you put whatever you want there for a week.
Get us your talent by Thursday and we’ll announce the winner that day.
